The Day Nature Answered

By Khirra Wildawn

Thank you for joining me around the campfire today.

Before we begin, I want to share something deeply personal with you.

Every journey has a beginning. Every path has a moment that changes its direction forever.

For me, that moment came on a storm-damaged morning in the ancient forest of my childhood. I was young, frightened, and completely powerless to help a creature in need.

What happened next would become one of the defining moments of my life.

Even now, years later, I can still remember every detail.

The scent of rain-soaked earth.

The sound of trembling leaves.

And the moment I began to wonder whether nature was listening.

This is the story of the day nature answered.

A Question for You

As you read this story, I invite you to reflect on your own life.

Have you ever experienced a moment that felt impossible to explain?

A moment when the world seemed larger, deeper, or more mysterious than you had ever imagined?

Perhaps you'll understand why this memory has stayed with me all these years.

The Storm

There are moments in our lives that divide everything into two parts.

The life we lived before.

And the life we lived after.

For me, that moment came during a storm.

I was still a child then. The forest felt endless, mysterious, and alive with secrets. Rain had battered the ancient trees throughout the night, and powerful winds had swept across the land.

When morning arrived, I wandered into the woods as I often did, eager to see what changes the storm had left behind.

The air smelled of wet earth and fresh leaves. Sunlight filtered through gaps in the canopy where branches had fallen. Everywhere I looked, the forest was recovering from the night's fury.

I remember thinking how peaceful it seemed.

Then I heard the cry.

A Cry in the Forest

It was faint at first.

A frightened sound carried on the breeze.

I stopped walking and listened carefully.

There it was again.

A desperate cry.

Without thinking, I followed it.

I pushed through tangled brush and stepped over broken branches until I reached a small clearing.

What I saw stopped me in my tracks.

A young fawn was trapped beneath a fallen tree.

The storm had torn the massive trunk from the earth and dropped it across the forest floor. One of the fawn's legs was pinned beneath the weight of the timber.

The poor creature struggled desperately to free itself.

Its eyes were wide with fear.

I could see the panic in every movement.

And my heart broke.

The Fallen Tree

I ran to the fawn and knelt beside it.

"It's alright," I whispered.

"I'll help you."

At least, I wanted to help.

The problem was that I had no idea how.

The tree was enormous.

Far too large for a child to move.

Still, I tried.

I planted my feet against the damp forest floor and pushed with all my strength.

Nothing happened.

I tried again.

And again.

And again.

The tree would not move.

The fawn cried out.

I remember feeling helpless.

Not frustrated.

Not angry.

Helpless.

I knew that if I could not free the animal, it might not survive.

And there was nobody nearby to help.

A Desperate Plea

Tears filled my eyes.

I placed a hand on the rough bark of the fallen tree and another on the trembling side of the fawn.

I begged.

Not to anyone in particular.

Not to a spirit.

Not to a god.

I simply begged.

Please.

Please help.

Please don't let it die.

I remember repeating those words over and over.

My tears fell onto the forest floor.

And for a moment, everything became strangely quiet.

The birds stopped singing.

The wind faded.

Even the forest seemed to hold its breath.

The Moment Everything Changed

Then something happened.

Something I have never forgotten.

The roots beneath the fallen tree began to move.

Slowly.

Naturally.

Almost gently.

Ancient roots emerged from the earth and shifted beneath the massive trunk.

The tree lifted.

The trapped leg slipped free.

The fawn scrambled to its feet.

For a moment, neither of us moved.

The young deer stood there staring at me.

I stared back.

Then it turned and vanished into the forest.

Gone within seconds.

Free.

Safe.

Alive.

I sat in the clearing long after it had disappeared.

Trying to understand what I had just witnessed.

I could not.

Even now, many years later, I am not certain I fully can.

The fawn was free. Ancient roots had risen from the forest floor to hold the fallen tree aloft. I could only stand there in silence, staring in disbelief and wondering what I had just witnessed. Question's Without Answers

For a long time, I told no one.

Who would have believed me?

I barely believed it myself.

Perhaps there was another explanation.

Perhaps the roots had shifted naturally.

Perhaps the tree had been unstable.

Perhaps it was simply coincidence.

Yet deep down, I knew what I had seen.

Something had responded that day.

Something had heard my desperate plea.

At the time, I did not understand what it meant.

I only knew that the forest suddenly felt different.

Closer somehow.

As though an invisible connection had awakened between us.

A connection I would spend years trying to understand.

The Beginning of My Journey

Looking back now, I realize that day changed everything.

It was not the moment I became a Nature Mage.

It was not the moment I gained power.

It was something far more important.

It was the moment I learned that compassion matters.

That every life has value.

That nature is not something separate from us.

We are part of it.

And it is part of us.

The fawn never knew how much it changed my life.

Yet because of that frightened little creature, I began asking questions that would shape every step of my future journey.

Questions that eventually led me toward the mysteries of the Living Harmony.

Questions that I am still seeking answers to today.

And perhaps the greatest mystery of all remains this:

Did nature truly answer me that day?

Or had it been listening all along?

Continue the Journey

Every story has a beginning.

This was one of mine.

But there are still many stories left to tell.

Like the day fire threatened everything I loved.

The strange signs that appeared throughout my childhood.

And the mystery of the Blue Comet that still haunts my dreams.

If you would like to hear those stories, I would be honored to share them with you.

Until then, walk gently, listen closely, and never underestimate the quiet wonders hidden within the wild places of our world.
